Saturday/Sunday Notes.

Was up at 06:00AM and had coffee, Donna slept in since she is working the day shift at the restaurant today.

Saturday and now Sunday are repeats of each rained most of Saturday and it is a misty cloudy and cool day. Temperature in the 50’s. That’s okay only two more weekends to go before we leave for the southern climes.

The Grand’s stayed home this weekend. can’t really blame them as yucky as the weather has been. Even Rigg’s is just laying around and pouting. Andy, Samantha & Sadie went out geocacheing with their friend Lisa. Sadie got to go but Rigg’s was told no. His face has been out of joint since they left.

Hopefully at least one day this week will be sunny and dry so I can get the fan running on the fiver’s A/c, then besides food and clothes it has passed all the test and is ready to roll.

If anyone has any suggestion for the Destin area, preferable a Passport USA park, let us know we would like to stop there for 2 or 3 nights on the way to Gulfport. Sam also wants to take a day and visit the Pensacola NAS, since he was assigned to a USS Intrepid SAR Det. while the Lex was in the yards. Also the Aviation Museum.

Not much else going on for a rainy day here at the ranch, Dardenne Prairie is like a ghost town.

Everyone be safe out there. Sam & Donna……..

  1. Sounds like pretty miserable weather over the weekend for you guys. Riggs 's nose may be out of joint because Sadie got to go out but he gets to go on holiday in two more weeks, I think that will be much more fun. Give him a hug for us.

  2. We stayed at a state park North of Destin....Was nice but very sandy....Maybe some other vets can help.

  3. We haven't stayed at a PA park in that area. We mostly stay at state parks in Florida. Not too far from Pensacola is Gulf Island Nat. Seashore with the full hook ups at Ft. Pickens. Camping is 50% off there with the America the Beautiful (or senior's) National Park Card - which coasts $10 and is good for life. Ft. Pickens is nice and open and a good $$ deal.
The naval museum in Pensacola is amazing. Plan to spend most of a day there!
Have fun & keep us posted!

    1. Sam & Susan , do you know if reservations are need at that state park or do they have a few drive up spots. I had heard somewhere that Fla State Parks need reservations months in advance. Thats why I thought we would have to bite the bullet and stay a a private park near Destin. Thanks Sam & Donna.
